A Message from the Superintendent 

It's hard to believe that the 2008-2009 school year is behind us, and we are busy preparing for a new year. We congratulate our new graduates from Crestwood and Lakewood High Schools. The combined senior classes of our two high schools earned over $16.8 million in scholarship dollars, and we are very proud of their accomplishments.

Dr. J. Frank Baker

District Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Sharon Delaney, our District Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Delaney  is also the campus Teacher of the Year at Ebenezer Middle School.

Superintendent's Award 

Mr. Fredrick Maple was chosen in August 2008 by Superintendent Dr. J. Frank Baker as the 2008 recipient of the Superintendent's Award of Excellence.  Mr. Maple served District Two as a teacher, an assistant principal, the principal of the former Hillcrest High School and Crestwood High School, and at the Career Center.  In January 2009, after a long and valiant fight against cancer, Mr. Maple passed away.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him and will forever be remembered in Sumter School District Two.

Relay For Life

Sumter School District Two raised $54,949.93 for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The Career Readiness Center collected $5,465.59 followed by the District Office with $5,216.00 and Pocalla Springs Elementary with $5,012.00.
